Material handling equipment for factory stores and shop floors

GODOWN sources material handling equipment for factories across Delhi NCR: hand pallet trucks and stackers, trolleys, drum handlers, bins and crates, pallets, racks and shelving, chain pulley blocks, slings and castors. These are bought less often than spares, so the specification is often copied from an old quote.

Measure before you indent: pallet sizes and entry, door widths, ramp gradients, rack bay sizes and the heaviest load. Racks and bins often arrive in lots, so give the quantity per delivery if your store can only take part of the order at once, and record a partial GRN for each lot.

Buy it through GODOWN and you get competitive quotes, one PO for the plant, delivery tracked to your gate and a GST tax invoice for each lot. If a pallet truck arrives with the wrong fork width, we handle the return.

What we source

Material handling we source for plants

  • Hand pallet trucks

Manual trucks for moving pallets on level floors, commonly rated at 2,000 to 3,000 kg, with forks around 1,150 mm long and 540 or 685 mm overall width.

  • Stackers

Manual, semi-electric and fully electric stackers that lift pallets onto racks. Chosen by capacity, lift height, and whether the legs straddle the pallet or the forks go over them.

  • Trolleys

Platform, turret, shelf and bin trolleys for moving parts between stores and lines, in mild steel, or in stainless steel for cleanrooms.

  • Drum handling

Drum trolleys, lifters and tilters for 200 and 210-litre drums of oil, solvents and chemicals.

  • Bins and crates

Stackable and hang-and-stack bins for stores and line-side kanban, and plastic crates for moving parts between operations and suppliers.

  • Pallets

Treated wooden pallets for export, marked under ISPM 15, and plastic pallets in rackable, stackable or nestable designs, commonly 1,200 × 1,000 mm or 1,200 × 800 mm.

  • Racks and shelving

Slotted angle racks, boltless shelving, selective pallet racking, and cantilever racks for bar and pipe, rated by load per level.

  • Chain pulley blocks and hoists

Manual chain pulley blocks, electric chain hoists and beam trolleys for lifting motors, gearboxes and dies, rated by safe working load and lift height.

  • Slings and lifting tackle

Webbing, round and chain slings, shackles and eyebolts, each marked with its safe working load.

  • Castors and wheels

Replacement castors in polyurethane, nylon, rubber or cast iron, plate or stem mounted, swivel or fixed, rated by load per castor.

Spec checklist

What to put on a material handling indent

Vendors quote the right part first time when the indent carries these. Missing details mean a round of calls before anyone can quote.

  • Capacity: rated load in kg, with a margin over your heaviest load including the pallet or container. For racks, the uniformly distributed load (UDL) per level and per bay.
  • Dimensions: fork length and overall fork width to suit your pallets, lowered fork height, lift height for stackers, and platform size for trolleys.
  • Wheels: polyurethane for smooth floors and quiet running, nylon for heavy loads and oily floors, rubber for uneven surfaces; plus diameter, load per wheel and brakes.
  • Floor and site: floor finish, ramps and gradients, door widths, wet or cleanroom areas, and whether stainless steel or ESD-safe equipment is needed.
  • Pallets: size, two-way or four-way entry, and the bottom deck. A hand pallet truck needs gaps in the bottom deck for its load rollers to reach the floor.
  • Bins and crates: outside and inside dimensions, load per bin, stacking or nesting, colour, label holder, and food-grade or ESD material where needed.
  • Lifting equipment: safe working load, lift height, hand chain drop, hook type, beam flange width for trolleys, and the manufacturer's test certificate.
  • Powered equipment: battery type (lead-acid or lithium-ion), voltage, charger, and service support near your plant.

Questions

Buying material handling: common questions

What capacity hand pallet truck do I need?

Pick a rated capacity above your heaviest pallet, counting the pallet's own weight; 2,500 kg is a common rating. Then check the fit: fork length should match pallet depth, overall fork width must enter your pallet openings, and the lowered height must clear the bottom deck. Polyurethane wheels suit smooth, finished floors, and nylon wheels cope better with oily ones. Put all four on the indent.

What does UDL mean on an industrial rack?

UDL is the uniformly distributed load: the most weight a shelf or beam level can carry when that weight is spread evenly across it. A heavy item concentrated in the middle of a shelf can overload it even if the total is within the UDL. Specify the UDL per level and per bay when you buy, mark the rating on each rack, and keep the heaviest items on the lowest levels.

Should I buy wooden or plastic pallets?

Wooden pallets cost less, are easy to repair and suit one-way shipments; for export they must be treated and stamped under ISPM 15, usually by heat treatment. Plastic pallets cost more but keep their size and weight, don't splinter or absorb moisture, and can be washed, which is why food and pharma plants prefer them inside the plant. Choose rackable plastic pallets if they will sit on beam racks.

Do chain pulley blocks and slings need test certificates?

Yes. Ask for the manufacturer's test certificate with every new chain pulley block, hoist, sling and shackle, showing its safe working load. Under the Factories Act, lifting machines and tackle must also be examined periodically by a competent person, and your safety team needs the original certificate for those records. Write 'test certificate required' on the indent, and confirm the examination interval with your safety officer, as state rules vary.
