Safety and PPE supplies for factories and plants
GODOWN sources safety and PPE for factories in Delhi NCR: safety shoes, gloves, helmets, eye and face protection, hearing protection, respirators, full-body harnesses, protective clothing, and site safety items such as lockout-tagout kits and signage.
PPE is bought in sizes and in bulk, and issued to people rather than machines. A good indent names the standard and rating each item must meet, splits sizes by department, and carries the cost centre it is charged to, so the store can issue it without a second count. Check that every quote names a brand and model, not just 'safety shoe'.
GODOWN gets you competitive quotes on products that meet your standard, one PO per plant, and delivery to your gate with a GST tax invoice. If a size arrives short or wrong, it is handled as after-sales, not chased by your safety officer.
Safety we source for plants
Safety footwear
Safety shoes and gumboots with steel or composite toecaps, to IS 15298 (aligned with ISO 20345). Variants add penetration-resistant midsoles, anti-static or heat-resistant soles and water-resistant uppers.
Hand protection
Cut-resistant, heat-resistant, chemical-resistant (nitrile, neoprene, PVC), leather and general-handling gloves, rated to EN 388 for mechanical risks and EN 374 for chemicals.
Head protection
Industrial safety helmets with ratchet or pin-lock harnesses, to IS 2925, and bump caps for low-risk areas.
Eye and face protection
Safety spectacles, goggles for chemical splash and dust, face shields for grinding, and welding helmets and filter lenses.
Hearing protection
Disposable foam earplugs, reusable plugs and earmuffs, chosen by the noise level of the area and the protector's attenuation rating.
Respiratory protection
Disposable FFP2, FFP3 and N95 respirators, and half- and full-face masks with filter cartridges for dust, vapours and gases.
Fall protection
Full-body harnesses to IS 3521, double lanyards with shock absorbers, and anchor points for work at height.
Protective clothing
Coveralls, aprons, high-visibility vests, flame-retardant clothing and chemical suits.
Lockout-tagout and site safety
Safety padlocks, hasps and tags for isolation, barricade tape, signage, first-aid kits and eyewash stations.
What to put on a safety indent
Vendors quote the right part first time when the indent carries these. Missing details mean a round of calls before anyone can quote.
- The hazard and the standard it calls for: cut level to EN 388, chemical resistance to EN 374, footwear to IS 15298 with its category (SB, S1, S1P, S3).
- Size runs: footwear by size (UK sizes are usual in India) and glove sizes, split by department so the store can issue them.
- Material and details: toecap (steel or composite), sole (PU, PU/rubber or nitrile for heat), glove coating (nitrile, PU or latex), lens tint (clear, smoke or welding shade).
- Certification you want shown with the quote: the BIS licence where an Indian standard applies, CE or EN marking for imported items, and test certificates for harnesses and helmets.
- Pack and issue unit: pairs, pieces, or boxes for earplugs and disposable gloves.
- Colour or print where the plant uses it, such as helmet colours by role or the company logo on vests.
- Brand, if your safety officer has approved specific products after trials; otherwise the standard and rating let vendors quote equivalents.
- Manufacture or expiry dates for helmets, harnesses and respirator cartridges, checked at GRN.

Buying safety: common questions
What do S1, S1P and S3 mean on safety shoes?
They are safety-footwear categories from ISO 20345, which India adopts as IS 15298 Part 2. All have a 200-joule toecap. S1 adds a closed heel, an anti-static sole and heel energy absorption; S1P adds a penetration-resistant midsole against nails and sharp debris; S3 adds water-resistant uppers and a cleated sole on top of that. S1P suits most dry factory floors with sharp debris, and S3 suits wet areas and outdoor yards.
How do I choose cut-resistant gloves?
Choose by the EN 388 rating and the job. EN 388 marks gloves with a row of codes: abrasion, cut by the coupe test (1 to 5), tear, puncture, and since 2016 a letter from A to F for the ISO cut test, where F is the highest. Levels C to E are common for sheet metal, press loading and glass handling, and A or B for general handling. The grip coating matters too: nitrile for oily parts, PU for dry precision work.
Which standard do industrial safety helmets follow in India?
Industrial safety helmets in India are made to IS 2925, which covers shock absorption, resistance to penetration and flammability. For live electrical work, ask for helmets tested for electrical insulation. Replace any helmet after a hard impact, and within the service life the maker gives, since heat and sunlight weaken the shell. Put the standard, harness type (ratchet or pin-lock) and colour on the indent so vendors quote the right model.
Can we buy PPE in bulk for several plants?
Yes. Each plant indents for its own people on a platform set up to its own approval workflow, and gets one PO per plant, so deliveries, GST tax invoices and GRNs stay with the plant that uses the items. Standard items bought in volume, such as safety shoes and gloves, get competitive quotes through GODOWN. Agree one approved product per item across plants first, then split sizes by department in each indent so store issues are easy.
