Industrial motors and drives for factories
GODOWN sources industrial motors and drives for factories across Delhi NCR: three-phase induction motors, flameproof and brake motors, geared motors and gearboxes, VFDs, soft starters and servo systems. When a motor fails the machine stops with it, so a motor indent has to carry enough detail for the right replacement to be quoted in the first round.
Most motor indents that go wrong are missing one line from the nameplate. Raise the indent against the machine, the cooling tower fan or conveyor drive that tripped, attach a photo of the old nameplate, and mark it as a breakdown if the machine is down. For a drive, add the existing model and any communication card, so the replacement fits the same panel and program.
GODOWN gets you competitive quotes and one PO, prioritises breakdown requirements, and tracks the delivery to your gate with a GST tax invoice. Warranty claims are handled by us, not left with your maintenance team.
Motors & drives we source for plants
Three-phase induction motors
Squirrel-cage TEFC motors in foot, flange and foot-cum-flange mounting, the default for pumps, fans and conveyors. Offered in IE2, IE3 and IE4 efficiency classes under IS 12615.
Flameproof motors
Ex d motors for hazardous areas such as solvent handling and paint mixing, selected by zone, gas group and temperature class. Buyers in India usually ask for the PESO approval and test certificate with the motor.
Brake motors
Motors with an integral electromagnetic brake that holds the load when power is cut, used on hoists, conveyors and indexing tables.
Single-phase motors
Capacitor-start and capacitor-run motors for small pumps, fans and bench machines where only a 230 V supply is available.
Geared motors and gearboxes
Helical, helical-bevel and worm reduction units, either as integrated geared motors or as gearboxes on an IEC motor flange. Specified by ratio, output speed, output torque and service factor.
Variable frequency drives (VFDs)
AC drives that vary motor speed and soften starting, for pumps, fans, conveyors and process machines. Rated by kW and output current, with separate normal-duty and heavy-duty ratings.
Soft starters
Thyristor starters that ramp the voltage to cut starting current and mechanical shock. They don't control running speed, so they suit pumps, compressors and fans that run at a fixed speed.
Servo motors and drives
Matched servo motor, drive and cable sets for machine-tool axes, presses, packaging machines and pick-and-place units. A replacement usually needs the same encoder type and the drive's parameter file.
DC motors and drives
Still found on older extruders, winders and mills. Spares are matched to armature voltage, field voltage, power rating and the existing thyristor drive.
What to put on a motors & drives indent
Vendors quote the right part first time when the indent carries these. Missing details mean a round of calls before anyone can quote.
- Rating and speed: output in kW and HP, number of poles and rated speed. At 50 Hz a 4-pole motor is 1,500 rpm synchronous and a little slower on load, so copy the full-load rpm from the nameplate.
- Frame size: from the old nameplate, such as 132M or 160L, so the replacement has the same shaft height, foot-hole pattern and shaft size.
- Mounting and shaft: B3 foot, B5 flange, B35 foot-cum-flange or B14 face mounting, plus shaft diameter and length, and terminal box position.
- Efficiency class: IE2, IE3 or IE4 under IS 12615. A higher class usually runs at a slightly higher full-load speed, which adds load on fans and centrifugal pumps.
- Supply and duty: 415 V, 3-phase, 50 Hz in most Indian plants; duty type, such as S1 continuous or S3 intermittent; and the starting method: DOL, star-delta, soft starter or VFD.
- Enclosure and insulation: IP55 TEFC is the usual default; IP66 for wash-down areas, Ex d flameproof for hazardous zones, insulation class F, and inverter-duty insulation if the motor will run on a VFD.
- For a VFD: motor kW and full-load current, normal or heavy duty, input voltage, control mode (V/f or vector), braking resistor, I/O and communication protocol, and enclosure (IP20 for panel mounting).
- Brand or equivalent: if the drive must match existing parameters, software or a panel cut-out, name the model and say no substitutes.

Where it's used in a plant
- Utilities: pumps, cooling tower fans, air compressors, AHU blowers and dust collectors.
- Material movement: conveyors, hoists, bucket elevators and indexing tables, often on geared or brake motors.
- Machine tools and presses: spindle motors, servo axes and press drives.
- Process equipment: agitators, mixers, reactors and extruders, with flameproof motors where solvents are handled.
- Energy retrofits: VFDs on fans and pumps that now throttle flow with dampers or valves.

Buying motors & drives: common questions
Can I replace an IE2 motor with an IE3 motor of the same kW?
Usually yes, if the frame size, mounting, shaft and terminal box position match the old motor. Check three things before ordering: full-load speed, which is often slightly higher and adds load on fans and centrifugal pumps; starting current, which can be higher and may trip a tightly set breaker; and full-load current, so the overload relay can be reset. Attach the old nameplate photo so the quote is a like-for-like fit.
How do I select a VFD for an existing motor?
Size the drive on the motor's full-load current, not only its kW, and match the input voltage. Choose a heavy-duty rating for constant-torque loads such as conveyors, compressors and extruders, and normal duty for fans and centrifugal pumps. Long cable runs between drive and motor may need an output reactor or dV/dt filter, and older motors without inverter-grade insulation can fail early on a drive.
How quickly can I get a replacement motor during a breakdown?
Mark the indent urgent: GODOWN prioritises breakdown requirements and tracks the delivery to your gate. What slows most breakdown orders is missing information, so attach a photo of the old nameplate with kW, frame size, mounting and speed visible, and say whether another brand or efficiency class is acceptable. A complete indent gets a correct quote in the first round, with no time lost on clarifications.
How do I avoid counterfeit or refurbished motors and drives?
Specify a new unit with the manufacturer's warranty, and ask for the serial number on the invoice and the routine test certificate with the motor. For drives and servo systems, ask for supply through the brand's authorised distributor, since warranty support usually depends on it. Bought through GODOWN, any warranty return is handled for you against the original order.
